This was my first experience trying Chicken Wings at a Mediterranean restaurant. They were pretty good. The lemon flavor was yummy. They were a little crispy, not bad The restaurant is very clean and cute. The waitress was very friendly and full of smiles. Smiles are always a nice addition to anything and everything :) I enjoyed the Chicken Schwarama sandwich for $4. It was a nice dining experience!

I really like this place. I have got a carryout twice, both times it was great. The place is very flexible. You can substitute hummus for rice, no charge. Want a fattosh salad instead of house no problem, small up charge. Everything has been seasoned perfectly and the staff is always pleasant and takes the time to explain things and help you select. I'll definitely be returning.

Just ate here for dinner...chicken kaftka + lamb shank. Total was around $25 for excellent salad, bread, and entree. Huge portions, good prices, fast service. Highly recommended!

--Probably a 4 star, but I just LOVE them. The extra star comes from the love in my heart lol -- I've been trying to find a mediterranean place in the area that will be my regular 'go to' place, but it's actually a lot harder than I thought it would be. I

I placed a carryout order since I was going to be in the area and was in a hurry. When I arrived I was surprised to be told they had no record of my order - which was only a chicken shwarma. After discussing and assuring the owner I had the right place - I'd looked it up on Yelp for the phone # and the directions had brought me there, he concluded that a woman who works there had forgotten to put it in the computer. So... now I'm bummed because I was on a timeline, but he assured me he could make me a schwarma in 4 minutes and he did. I bought 3 baklava and as I was paying he threw in some pita & hummus for making we wait. The shwarma was too garlicy for me and I love garlic. I took the first bite and just went 'wow', it was overpowering. Oddly the hummus was bland - or maybe I just couldn't tell after the strong shwarma. The baklava were good. Probably won't try again.

My wife and I went here for lunch not long ago. I was very impressed. Mjadara (my test dish for a Middle Eastern restaurant) was superb, the best I've had recently. Salads were very green and dressed subtly. I also had a tasty samosa-like appetizer called sambosk that was filled with potatoes and onions and a bit of spice. Our waitress was also very nice. We had lots of questions about the restaurant and she answered them well. The room is comfortable with a very relaxed atmosphere. I am lucky enough to live in an area with several good Middle Eastern restaurants. Asya is the best of these I've tried recently. I'm looking forward to going again!

The FOOD was SPECTACULAR.... The people that work there are just the nicest people you'll ever want to meet, VERY proud of the food they put out.. and THEY SHOULD BE. The value/pricing is insanely great. I really want to dine-in next time I go. It is a really small hole in the wall.. but do NOT let that stop you from dining in. They serve you on REAL PLATES. We have done carry out... as the frigid weather denotes that the one nearest good food must bring it home. Aki had Chicken shawarma wrap and I had the falafel wrap and we got a fattoush to go. We've had ALOT of wraps.. I mean ALOT. This is up there with the BEST... I spoke with a patron, a regular, while I was waiting for my food and he said that the garlic sauce should be carried out in quart sized containers... I will review again after my dine-in experience. VERY HAPPY To have them right where we do ALOT of shopping! UPDATE:: BEEN here MULTIPLE TIMES. We are regulars. STILL ONE of our TOP FAVORITES!

Five stars for what it is: excellent fresh food, prepared quickly in a convenient storefront location. Took my Mom here for an impromptu lunch and had to try the lentil soup after reading the other reviews; it was just as good as promised. Hummus was fresh and of a great consistency; smooth without being creamy and not too garlicky. Falafel with pickled veggies was a nice dish and Mom loved her stuffed grape leaves. Close to work and quick, I'll be back and I know Mom will too.

The food is really yummy! The crushed lentil soup is delicious and perfect when you're feeling under the weather. The baba ghanouj had a roasted flavor which I really liked. I also thought the chicken kabob and lamb shank were great. Our waitress (and presumably the owner) was very friendly and helpful in answering all of our questions about the food. Definitely will come back!

This place is amazing. The food is great! I've never had anything I didn't like. The hummus is the best I've ever had, and I grew up with a middle eastern neighbor, who would bring us all kinds of dishes... The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The grilled combo for two is our fave, enough for leftovers for a couple of days! A must if your in the area!

oh asya. i found you out of desperation for authentic middle eastern food that i didn't have to drive to dearborn for. i've grown tired of pita cafe in oak park and anyone who thinks beirut palace is good is most definitely a monster. so i did a yelp search about 6 months ago expecting all the usual suspects to appear and there you were, mashed in a sea of terrible middle eastern restaurants with 5 glowing stars attached to your name. my husband and i decided to dine in for our first time - the interior is nothing to be "wowed" over. its small and clean but certainly not sexy date night material. we were the only ones in there which naturally made me feel alarmed but once the food came out all of my fears were abruptly whisked away and i suddenly didn't care about any of the details of my atmosphere. because we are world record holders in eating, we ordered: hummus, meat grape leaves, lamb ghallaba, crushed lentil soup, fattoush salad, garlic spread, pickles and turnips. i think we ate it all in 10 minutes flat. it was all SO incredible! this was hands down the best lamb ghallaba i have ever had and the almond rice it came with was perfect. i consider myself a total fattoush salad snob and this was incredible. the dressing was absolutely the best part - so much sumac! the garlic is A+, the hummus is always delicious and the grape leaves! my goodness! i think my husband could have had 100 of them and still wanted more. we have since become devout fans of asya. we mostly get carryout from them nowadays and i have to say that it all keeps very fresh and warm from madison heights all the way to ferndale. i've also had their lunch deal a few times - a pita with a salad, soup or fries and a drink for 6 or 7 dollars. i've only had their chicken schwarma pita and it is very very good. and i have to add, the service is always excellent. it seems to be a pretty small crew in there, which i love. they are fast, super nice and really thankful for all business. i hope they stick around for a really long time!

The restaurant was clean. The food was served on good silverware. Not that silverware is important but it is nice to know it's not all bent out of shape, etc. I got the lamb swarma. It was a lot of food for one person. To be expected at middle eastern places.

  • Stephanie T.

Very fresh! Very good! Very Affordable!!! Make sure you check it out! Order there all the time the service is always friendly. The food is always good and I love it. The only downside hard to get into depending on the time you go there. But definitely worth it!

Growing up in Dearborn, it takes pretty good Lebanese food to impress me. I live in Madison Heights and have passed by this little place several times, meaning to stop in. As we were walking in today, there was a sign offering a $5 special of a sandwich and cup of soup. Sold! I got a falafel sandwich. Very filling, flavorful and with all of the accoutrements, and grilled afterwards. Might sound trivial, but it was wrapped up just right so everything stayed together. A messy sammich is fun for no one! Soup: crushed lentil, served with a lemon wedge. Tasted very fresh and it was slightly chunky. Perfect amount of coriander. Based on how quickly my business partner devoured his beef shawarma sandwich and vegetable soup, I think he approved. :) Someone definitely paid attention to decor; it's simple, clean and pleasant. More so than many middle eastern places, and especially the one farther south on John R. (LOL) Service was quick, can't beat the $5 lunch combo and both the chef and woman (manager/wife) checked to make sure everything was good. It was. Will be back soon to try some other menu items!

The finest Lebanese food you're going to find anywhere. Why not just eat here and pay less for it. I could not believe the quality and the super prices. What a deal. What amazing food. The owner Asia (Hence the name of the restaurant: Asya - to not like a Chinese place) was so sweet and helpful. I love all Lebanese food so I just let her pick for me. I had the Chicken over a bed of hummus with basmati rice. omg it was delicious. My wife had the lunch special lamb kafta. Then baklava for a buck to top it all off. Portion sizes were all large. Crushed lentil soup was heavenly. We will return here every trip to Metro-Detroit. Detroit has tons of Lebanese/Mediterranean restaurants but this one is a stand out. It is not fancy but if you want fancy go pay lots more somewhere else in Dearborn or Royal Oak and get food that is not nearly as good.

Excellent little place, lovely lentil, great sandwiches, low prices. Very friendly people. We had soup and sandwich combo, loved every bit.

Great hummus and amazing rice. Try the borak very different and tasty. Chicken shwarma was good as well. Half orders available On most entrees. Definitely will be back.

Back again, this time to take advantage of the $5 soup and sandwich lunch special. I really like their lentil soup. And in talking with the owners I discovered the secret to their tabbouli's freshness: it's made to order every time. You've got to give these folks your business!

  • Kooky M.

I went back about two weeks after my first visit. The first time, I came in at night with my husband. The second, around lunch time with a friend. As soon as the owner saw me, she said, "Oh good, you came back!" When she came to our table to get our order, she looked at me and said, "Are you getting the lamb shank again?" Come ON, are you kidding me??? I was beyond impressed that she remembered. And yes, as a matter of fact, I DID get the lamb shank again. And yes, it was every bit of perfection as it was the first time. So good! My girlfriend loved it too. Seriously, if you enjoy middle eastern food at all, give this place a try. If you've never tried middle eastern food, go here first! It honestly IS that good!!!!

    (5)
  • Samir N.

I absolutely love this place. They are right next to work and you can get "half" (sufficiently filling) orders of entrees for $7-$8. I usually go with some regulars, so their staff treats us like family. The food is delicious, and I love the lentil soup and rice that comes with the entrees. I have not had an entree that I regret, yet. I may have to work my way through their entire menu. The place is small and starts filling up for lunch on workdays. In a city loaded with Arabic food joints, this one is up there.

This is a wonderful place for middle eastern food! It is somewhat smaller if you choose to dine in, however you dont notice once you begin eating! The food here is very flavorful and the lentil soup is AMAZING! Love, love LOVE it! Prices and portions are perfect also =)

  • Marc V.

This little place is amazing. I just moved to the area and was trying to find good restaurants, and I can't believe this place didn't pop up, but I think it's relatively new. For a little over $11 at lunchtime I walked out with a full kafta entree, house salad, and bowl of lentil soup, easily enough for two meals. Everything is really well made. Falafel is made fresh at the restaurant. Even the rice is perfectly made and not sticky. And there's a nice little organic bakery next door, but I was so full after eating half of my meal that I didn't even touch my loaf of bread.

    (5)
  • Katie F.

I ordered the chicken kabob with rice and crushed lentil soup to go. It was delish! Perfect meal for one when my very picky husband is out. Next time I plan to get a side of hummus and veggies too.

If you blink driving down John R you may miss this hidden gem. I love middle eastern cuisine and Asya hits the spot every time we order from here. I have never had any food from here my family did not like. Very nice staff, clean, a bit pricey but I am ok with it when the service and food are on spot.

  • Amanda M.

Very good food for lunch, and very affordable. I've been here twice, and was very happy with my experiences. I've had better flavored hummus and more moist stuffed grape leaves, but the food was still very good. The business is very family oriented, my waitress is always very sweet and happy to see me- she remembered me after my first visit! Will definitely be back!

Stopped by Asya on a night out to meet friends and movie night. So this place was chosen on a whim and in short, it was pretty tasty and the service was stellar! Grabbed the meat dish for three, with some side apps and we were all stuffed. The ample quantity of the food were more than enough to sate the appetite of 3 people. Our server was very spot on and attentive, able to hover just enough to be very helpful (refilling drinks and clearing empty plates) and also provide excellent customer service by helping make dinner decisions for those in the group that might be new to the cuisine. Great Middle Eastern place, give it a try!

  • Matthew K.

Nice to find some solid Middle Eastern food right by my house. Everything I've tried is right on point. I only have 3 complaints: prices are a little high, the bread is cold cut pita (not the hot uncut fresh from the oven type) and the hummus is too whipped and could use a little more garlic. But all that being said, GREAT food.

    (4)
  • Louis J.

Way overpriced. One lunch special at$7.99, the rest was over $11.00. Food was okay, service was great. I do not recommend

This is an amazing little place for home cooked middle eastern food. The lentil soup is amazing.

    (5)
  • Lyubov K.

The woman answering the phone is rude. The lentil soup has way too much coriander and black pepper in it, yet it is somehow still bland. It has no substance to it. Tastes like lentils and water. With coriander. The parking lot and general area are way too busy to warrant coming here during the day. Don't waste your time (or money) with this place.

  • Jason P.

I usually go to Lebanese Grill in Troy, but after reading these raving reviews I decided to switch it up. I have to say I was very disappointed. I had the Chicken Shawarma which was okay, however Lebanese Grill is much better. The real disappointment was the rice. It was over cooked, and just terrible. This was more expensive, & a further drive for me. I won't be back.

Pretty good. Not as bad as the now-defunct Lialy Lebanon, but nowhere near as good as Beirut Palace. This restaurant gets 2 stars from me for the following reasons: - I was told on the phone that my order would be ready in 10-15 minutes. When I showed up at the restaurant 15 minutes later, not only was my order not ready, but I ended up sitting in the restaurant and waiting another 45 minutes for it. Good thing my employer isn't anal about long lunch breaks... - The falafel was dry - The spinach pies were dry - The texture of the hummus was ok, but it was very mild and bordering on flavorless There were some redeeming qualities; namely, the shish kafta and the grape leaves, which were very flavorful and fresh. I might come here again if I'm desperate, otherwise, I'm driving a little farther for Beirut Palace.

I was Lebanese in another life :) very good baba, good hummus. Had the tabbouleh, and while it wasn't the best I've had, it was still good. The garlic spread on the chicken tawook wrap was very strong, I'd ask for a little less next time. Very friendly staff, very welcoming :))

The food in general is good and the prices are very reasonable .... it doesn't open on Sundays though ! The reason I'm rating it 3 stars is that I had to order twice when it was a little late (just before they close ) and both times the food seemed to be old and reheated . It was awful .. If you don't have the time to make a good meal say so and don't just give me whatever left in your kitchen .

  • Melissa M.

Food is legit. Everyone raves about Beruit Palace, but that place has nothin on Asya The prices are reasonable and the food is authentic. The Shish Kafta is absolutely delicious. They have a lunch special which includes a pita sandwich and lentil soup for $6.50. The soup was so flavorful! What a deal. Ambiance is not amazing, but a great place to take out.

  • Alyssa L.

This place is SO GOOD! I have probably gotten one of everything on the menu and it's always great. It's always fresh and it tastes homemade. Plus the owner is around maybe 75% of the time so you know you'll be greeted with a smile and everything will be quality! The food is just as amazing as going to Dearborn, and less than a mile from home! I'm really sad to be leaving the Detroit area because of it's amazing food and Asya is a big part of why! I hope I can find something even half as delicious in Minneapolis!

  • S S.

A friend had raved about the fattoush here. I had never had fattoush, so I asked what it was. Salad. Hmmmmm, I never order salad eating out. I can make salad at home. But I tried it anyway, then went back two days later for more! So, so good! Fresh, crisp, perfectly dressed, and it bursts with flavor. The shawarma is also delicious. They pack it separate from the salad so it doesn't steam your lettuce on the way home. Someone mentioned here that half orders are plenty, so the first time I came here, I ordered a half order of the chicken kabob dinner. If you are hungry, do not order a half order! I opened the box to find 4 bite sized morsels of chicken. So tiny that I had to break out my kitchen scale, 2 ounces of meat. It was good, and I loved the rice, but don't order a half unless you eat like a bird. Closed on Sundays, found that out when I kept driving until I came across that other Middle Eastern restaurant I reviewed.

  • Sally P.

This restaurant is wonderful. Small with only a few tables, the service is personal with Asya making wonderful recommendations on their menu. We are trying something new on each visit, but always have kibbie for appetizer. Every dish has been a delight. Prices are very good with large portions served. We look forward to our weekly visit!

  • Chris M.

I've eaten here numerous times. The staff are great! Very friendly and they do their best to get your food to you quickly. The good - Fatoosh and fresh juices are pretty standard, but these are good things. They have some nice lunch specials for around 7 bucks. The bad - I ordered a schwarma sandwich and though Iove garlic this sando was "No Es Bueno". Way too much garlic sauce. To the point that I'm scared to try another one. Maybe it was bad luck and I'll still keep coming here but only for salad, juice, and soup.

  • Emily M.

My go-to middle eastern restaurant! Everything is so fresh and delicious. I particularly love the fattoush salad, hummus, and raw juices. Not only is the food good, but it's also healthy, which is why I get take-out from here a few times a month. If I ever move out of the area, I'd make the drive for this place, it's that good!

Falafel was overcooked and bitter. Spinach pie was nothing to write home about. They have great prices but eating in was disappointing. Their fountain beverages are off in flavor.

Wow, I have to say I was really impressed by this place. I live right around the corner and am kicking myself that I didn't try it sooner! The prices on everything are extremely competitive, the food is fresh, delicious, and authentic, and the service was friendly and quick. Best fattoush I've had outside of Dearborn, or maybe period, and the lamb shawarma with baba ghanouj was excellent. We'll be back to try more of the delicious food here soon. Do yourself a favor and try this place. It's a gem!

I used to live in Dearborn and loved authentic Middle Eastern cuisine there. I'm glad to discover Asya who can offer the same experience when I crave good shawarma, falafel and fattoush! Food is great and they are reasonably priced. Asya's great and my favorite part of this place is the waiting staff!! There is the young female waiting staff with glasses on. (Sorry! I don't know her name!) She's the politest attendant I've ever met. True quality customer service! Keep it up, Asya!

Asya is a great restaurant! The food is fresh, the restaurant is spotlessly clean, everything is tasty, and the prices are great. They have a lunch special for $6.99 that they run all day, it is a great deal. You get two skewers of chicken, rice pilaf, salad and bread. You just can't beat it. The lamb shank is also very good. Of course, the shwarma is also good. The wait staff is some of the best I've seen. They know the dishes and can recommend just what you want. I recommend Asya highly. It is well worth your time to go there.

Great falafel, hummus and tabouli! So glad we tried it. The baklava is very good and makes a great end to a wonderful meal. We will definitely be back.

Good middle eastern close to home. Great service, reasonable prices. I've had almost everything on the menu, having tried a few different combo trays. I like everything, top to bottom. Even the chicken "cream chop" (fried chicken filet with side of ranch?!). If you want middle eastern, this is always a good choice.

    (5)
  • Emily P.

I really want to like this place. I've come here a handful of times at lunch, both carry-out and dining in. The lunchtime waitress is not very nice, their salads are overpriced for the relatively small portions, and the pita bread has been stale about 50% of the time. It just isn't a very good value. If their portions matched the prices, like other Middle Eastern places in the area, and the service was friendlier, I'd give a better rating.

It's one of those days, I was craving for Mediterranean food. I've been a mainstay of the Dearborn restaurants although I live in the Royal Oak area. But again, it's one of those days, I don't feel like driving to Dearborn, besides my gas gauge says almost 'E' so might as well go to Costco in Madison Hts to fill up. Hungry and tired, my smartphone says there's 'Asya' nearby. Went in to try, place is simple with a few tables. I was hesitant at first but decided why not, I'll try it. Ordered the lemon rice and lentil soup, and it was amazing! Ordered the combo plate for two, and it was flavorful! All of a sudden I perked up in spite of having one of those days. The food is soo good, we even ordered a carry out. All I can say is damn you 'Asya', why did you open this amazing restaurant so close to where I live...Damn you 'Asya'! Ooops, sorry everyone, I'm having 'one of those days'!

By far our favorite middle eastern restaurant in the area. Highly recommend trying the lamb shank, although everything we've tried is very good. The staff is friendly and the prices are fair. Oh, try the Turkish coffee. See photos for visual references.

Falafel was overcooked and bitter. Spinach pie was nothing to write home about. They have great prices but eating in was disappointing. Their fountain beverages are off in flavor.

Picked up some food here today and it was very good. Nice little sit down area on the inside, nothing too fancy. The portions were good and the garlic sauce is great.

  • Hussam B.

Lovely Middle Eastern food. Their falafel is divine and the girl who served us was very sweet and answered all our tedious questions (sorry, we're pretty chatty). Will definitely go again.

It's a gem!

Very fresh! Very good! Very Affordable!!! Make sure you check it out! Order there all the time the service is always friendly. The food is always good and I love it. The only downside hard to get into depending on the time you go there. But definitely worth it!

Back again, this time to take advantage of the $5 soup and sandwich lunch special. I really like their lentil soup. And in talking with the owners I discovered the secret to their tabbouli's freshness: it's made to order every time. You've got to give these folks your business!

Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful! Beirut Palace has been my favorite for YEARS...NOT ANYMORE...Sorry Beirut Palace, too far to drive. Now this is an odd location, however very clean and the ladies who run it are nice and friendly. When it comes to vegetarian Lebanese foods, I'm RARELY impressed. Normally no flavor, dry, and just BLAH!...However, this was really wonderful. Falafel was crisp, soft inside, warm, and FULL of flavor, the same applies to the spinach pie, salad (dressing), hummus, Mujadara, and best of all, the veggie grape leaves. All flavors were distinct, bold and well balanced. I will return and hopefully enjoy the same experience! Oh yea...all homemade and SUPER FRESH! One more point, quit complaining about "I had to wait for my food" - For goodness sake, go to McDonald's or some other crap FAST food if that is what you are looking for, but fresh food that is cooked to order takes a few extra minutes and it's worth the wait! :)

oh asya. i found you out of desperation for authentic middle eastern food that i didn't have to drive to dearborn for. i've grown tired of pita cafe in oak park and anyone who thinks beirut palace is good is most definitely a monster. so i did a yelp search about 6 months ago expecting all the usual suspects to appear and there you were, mashed in a sea of terrible middle eastern restaurants with 5 glowing stars attached to your name. my husband and i decided to dine in for our first time - the interior is nothing to be "wowed" over. its small and clean but certainly not sexy date night material. we were the only ones in there which naturally made me feel alarmed but once the food came out all of my fears were abruptly whisked away and i suddenly didn't care about any of the details of my atmosphere. because we are world record holders in eating, we ordered: hummus, meat grape leaves, lamb ghallaba, crushed lentil soup, fattoush salad, garlic spread, pickles and turnips. i think we ate it all in 10 minutes flat. it was all SO incredible! this was hands down the best lamb ghallaba i have ever had and the almond rice it came with was perfect. i consider myself a total fattoush salad snob and this was incredible. the dressing was absolutely the best part - so much sumac! the garlic is A+, the hummus is always delicious and the grape leaves! my goodness! i think my husband could have had 100 of them and still wanted more. we have since become devout fans of asya. we mostly get carryout from them nowadays and i have to say that it all keeps very fresh and warm from madison heights all the way to ferndale. i've also had their lunch deal a few times - a pita with a salad, soup or fries and a drink for 6 or 7 dollars. i've only had their chicken schwarma pita and it is very very good. and i have to add, the service is always excellent. it seems to be a pretty small crew in there, which i love. they are fast, super nice and really thankful for all business. i hope they stick around for a really long time!

The restaurant was clean. The food was served on good silverware. Not that silverware is important but it is nice to know it's not all bent out of shape, etc. I got the lamb swarma. It was a lot of food for one person. To be expected at middle eastern places.

Very fresh!

Yummy little place in Madison Heights. Wish I had known about it when I lived there. Reasonably priced and service was excellent.

This is a wonderful place for middle eastern food! It is somewhat smaller if you choose to dine in, however you dont notice once you begin eating! The food here is very flavorful and the lentil soup is AMAZING! Love, love LOVE it! Prices and portions are perfect also =)

I ordered the chicken kabob with rice and crushed lentil soup to go. It was delish! Perfect meal for one when my very picky husband is out. Next time I plan to get a side of hummus and veggies too.

Was just ok, rice somewhat dry, salad needed something more, but garlic was very good!

Just ate here for dinner...chicken kaftka + lamb shank. Total was around $25 for excellent salad, bread, and entree. Huge portions, good prices, fast service. Highly recommended!

If you blink driving down John R you may miss this hidden gem. I love middle eastern cuisine and Asya hits the spot every time we order from here. I have never had any food from here my family did not like. Very nice staff, clean, a bit pricey but I am ok with it when the service and food are on spot.

  • Hussam B.
